KATHMANDU, Nov 3: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that NC’s principle has prevailed following the elections to the three-layer of elections after the enforcement of new constitution.
At a greetings exchange program in the capital city today, Deuba said he would continue to work to ensure party’s first position in the upcoming elections though the results were not as expected for the NC in the erstwhile polls. Deuba added that he would take retirement only after making the party intact.
According to Deuba, the rape case and violence-induced crimes are on the rise in the country adding that the government failed to ensure justice to the victims.
Also speaking at the program, NC general secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala said that the NC’s poor performance in the last elections was the result of internal groups among the party leaders.
On the occasion, former ministers Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat and Narahari Acharya said constitution was promulgated and three levels of elections were held under NC’s leadership and added that the role of opposition was also equal to the ruling force in a democracy.
