BAJURA: Despite freezing cold and continuous snowfall in the region, public schools in Sudurpaschim and Karnali province have run classes with shivering students less heating options.
According to Badi Malika Municipality Ward Chair Dharma Raj Padhyay, the Saraswati Fundamental School with 200 students and classes up to eighth grade has run classes in fears that regular tuition would be disrupted if schools shut down citing cold.
However, the student turnover in the schools has dropped by 50 per cent as snow has blanketed the roadways making commuting difficult.
“The students particularly the toddlers are shivering and feeling uneasy. But schools have decide to operate regular classes,” Teacher Anil Kumar said.
The normal life has been hit hard in the provinces as the mountainous districts of Bajhang, Humla, Jumla, Mugu, bajura, Darchula among others have received heavy snowfall since Tuesday.
Moreover, regular flights in and out from the aforementioned districts have been snowed out since Tuesday.
