KATHMANDU, Feb 10: Taking strong exception to the recent recommendation of the Nepal Police Headquarters to promote the senior police officers, Superintendent of Police (SP) Narendra Upreti on Sunday resigned from the post.
Upreti tendered his resignation at the Nepal Police Headquarters stating that the recommendation made by the Police Headquarters was unfair and not based on the merit.
SP Upreti, who joined the police service in 1995, was in the fray to be promoted to the post of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP). However, the Police Headquarters did not include him in the list of promotion even though some of his junior colleagues got recommended.
On Saturday night, the Police Headquarters had recommended the Ministry of Home Affairs to promote 14 SPs to the post of SSPs and 26 DSPs to the post of SPs. Upreti was serving at the Metropolitan Police Crime Range at Teku.
