HETAUDA: Chief Minister of Province 3 Dormani Poudel has stated that a campaign should be launched to curb corruption which is rampant everywhere.
Speaking at the anniversary programme of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) in Hetauda today, CM Poudel said that the province government had adhered to ‘zero-tolerance’ policy against corruption.
He said that the province government was ready to support CIAA in every possible way to control corruption.
CM Poudel, however, stated that employees have been in fear of the Commission in recent times and have backed down from even carrying out good work. He suggested that public awareness, instead of fear, should be used as a means to bring down corruption. He stressed that the public play a crucial role in controlling corruption and hence they should be made aware.
He was of the opinion that people would only be able to experience true democracy in a society that is free of corruption. In this regard, he added that the province government would provide its support in building such a society.
The Chief Minister said that the Commission’s work was highly appreciated and could be further strengthened and made effective.
Present at the programme were chiefs of the District Coordination Committees of Bara, Parsa, Chitwan and Makawanpur, Chief District Officers of the above-mentioned districts, chief of security forces, anti-corruption campaigners, and public among others.
